Docent presentation

at Chalmers University of Technology 2019

My docent presentation was about my ongoing artistic research project Exploring haptic attributes

The field of applied aesthetics has an amazing potential, because we are finally gaining evidence from the broad scientific community about the important role movement and haptic perception play in shaping aesthetic meaning.

My presentation will focus on the recent exhibition of the 3-year artistic project HAPTICA; funded by the Swedish Research Council. This collaboration project engaged designers, culinary artists and sensory scientists from Konstfack and Campus Grythyttan, Örebro U. We explored haptic attributes of touch, grip and kinaesthetic movement in relation to formgiving, tasting and hospitality. The exhibition was built in two adjacent studios: One staged a performative space to experience haptic attributes of the 1) hand, 2) nose, mouth and throat and 3) body. The other presented 9 applied projects about sensitizing labs, sculpting taste, vibrotactile interaction etc.

Please join in the concluding discussion around haptics and multi-sensory experience in relation to kinaesthetic imagery and spatial patterns.
